Tiranga world records set in India and US for Independence Day

Two Golden Book of World Records entries were registered in India on August 13 for the 'Longest Mass March With Flag' and 'Most People Holding a National Flag', organised by Gaurav Gautam of Palwal, Haryana. The event, held ahead of Independence Day, drew thousands of participants carrying the Tiranga over a record distance. The achievements are part of the government's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to join.

Separately, the Indian diaspora in the US set a Guinness World Record for the 'Largest Flagpole Number' at Veterans Memorial Park in Parsippany, New Jersey. More than 1,300 US flags surrounded by Indian tricolours formed the number '250' to mark India's 80th Independence Day and the 250th anniversary of the US. The event was led by the Consulate General of India in New York and the Federation of Indian Associations, with support from Zoho.

Both record-setting events highlight the growing bilateral ties between India and the US, with the Indian Consul General emphasising the diaspora's role in strengthening economic and cultural links. The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign continues through August 15, while the 44th India Day Parade is scheduled for Sunday on Madison Avenue in Manhattan.
