VIT-AP honours nine unsung heroes on Independence Day

VIT-AP University marked the 80th Independence Day by honouring nine unsung heroes at its campus on Saturday. The awardees included three firefighters, three APSRTC employees and three police personnel, each receiving a memento and Rs 25,000 for their courage and service.

Director of Women Development and Child Welfare M. Venu Gopal Reddy unfurled the National Flag and commended the university for recognising individuals who risked their lives to serve society. Vice-Chancellor P. Arulmozhivarman said Independence Day is an opportunity to celebrate freedom and honour those who serve with courage and selflessness.

The nine awardees included fire personnel from Tadipatri, Narasannapeta and Visakhapatnam, APSRTC drivers from different depots, and police personnel from local stations. The university also presented certificates of appreciation to 30 housekeeping staff and 17 security personnel for their dedicated service.
