Punjab cashless health scheme crosses six lakh treatments

Punjab's Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY) has recorded over six lakh treatments in the past seven months, providing cashless coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh per family per year. State Health Agency data shows 26,18,712 beneficiaries enrolled against an eligible base of 69,12,697 families. The scheme has 880 empanelled hospitals with an average claim of Rs 14,628.

Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said utilisation is visible in critical care: chronic haemodialysis accounted for 1,99,417 treatments, cancer cases 60,504, and emergencies 1,85,220. Cardiac care included 10,428 PTCA procedures costing Rs 100 crore. Orthopaedic treatments saw 11,796 total knee replacements at Rs 94.89 crore. Private hospitals handled 3,36,161 cases compared to 2,70,731 in government hospitals, with total reported expenditure of Rs 1,093.93 crore.
