Murray starts as Vikings QB, beats Giants 13-10 in preseason

Kyler Murray played one series as Minnesota's starting quarterback, completing two of three passes for 10 yards, as the Vikings beat the New York Giants 13-10 in their preseason opener on Saturday. Coach Kevin O'Connell rested top receiver Justin Jefferson. J.J. McCarthy, the 2024 10th overall pick now on backup duty, finished 4 of 7 for 34 yards.

Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to rookie Malachi Fields after returning from a concussion evaluation. Dart was 3 of 4 for 26 yards. Vikings safety Jamal Adams was carted off with a right knee injury on a noncontact play. Coach O'Connell said the injury looked significant.

Odell Beckham Jr. played his first game back with the Giants, catching two passes for six yards. Vikings receiver Myles Price had four catches for 51 yards, including a one-handed touchdown from Carson Wentz in the third quarter.
